Our aim is to build on the children’s natural enthusiasm and curiosity to find out about the world around them and make better sense of their environment. Children at Yapton CE School are introduced to more complex scientific ideas as they progress through the Key Stages. We aim to teach the scientific skills of observing, measuring, classifying, predicting, hypothesising, experimenting and interpreting discoveries.
We also teach children to act in a safe and responsible manner when involved in scientific activities. The curriculum covers experimental and investigative science, life processes and living things, materials and their properties and physical processes. Children are taught science in a block at the beginning of each term unless there is a requirement to investigate over a period of time.
